Review: Garnier B.B. Cream

I've wanted to try this since I heard all the hype about it.

The claims:
An all in one skincare solution that immediately perfects your skin. The light, non-greasy formula gives an even skin tone with a healthy glow, blurs imperfections and redness, smoothes the appearance of fine lines, hydrates for 24 hours and helps protect with SPF 15.

It's not hard to see what all the hype was about with these claims. I was in Boots last week and swatched it on my hand. It just looked like a light foundation, yet it cost a whopping €14. I've seen it costing €10 in another place, so shop around! Still, the reviews said it was amazing.

Then, I read Emma-Louise's review here. Emma-Louise's was one of a few bad reviews I had read about the product. Then, I came across a website that was offering free samples of the cream. I thought, 'why not?'. At least then, I could try it in the comfort of my home (I didn't want to test on my face in the shop as I was wearing makeup).

My 3 sample sachets came this morning, and admittedly, I was a little excited to try it, even after reading the bad review. This is what the sachets look like...

I was glad my samples came in Light, as I'm really really pale (I'm Irish - we rarely see sun hahaha!) I moisturised about 2 hours before I tested the cream, so my skin was soft and smooth. The first thing I noticed when I opened the sachet, was the smell. I quite liked it though. I tested the B.B cream on my face where I had a small reddish patch, as my psoriasis tends to flare up a little when I'm stressed.

It made no difference to my face at all! It didn't reduce the redness whatsoever, or give me an even skin tone or a 'healthy glow'. This was the lightest shade and it was STILL too dark for me; it made me look orange, like a bad fake tan!!

I took these (yes, the shocked faces are to show how crap the cream is!!) to show you the colour.. It's ORANGE, and these pictures don't pick up the full orange-ness of it. It's like a very cheap dark foundation! After these pics were taken, I tried to blend it down my neck but to no avail; the tide marks were so obvious! The sachet I used was 1.5ml, and I used maybe half of the sachet, and it made me this orange! I think the cream is supposed to give the skin a dewy finish but it just made my face look so greasy and oily, and it felt really 'heavy'. The next picture shows the orange more clearly, it's crazy.

WHAT THE HELL, RIGHT??! Totally like fake tan gone wrong! I came into the living room where my fiancé was, and he said, "Why have you got really orange foundation on?" LOL! These are the cotton pads used to remove the cream...

What the schnitzel?! This picture doesn't pick up all of the orangeness, it was so crazy!

I wouldn't recommend this cream, glad I didn't buy it when I saw it in the shop. It's expensive, greasy, heavy, doesn't do what it claims and it's orange! Waste of money! The only good thing was the smell...

Personal rating out of 5 stars:

and the half is only for the smell!

Essence Nail Polish swatches

The beautiful Rachel over at Life of a Sweetaholic requested a post on 2 nail polishes, by Essence.

The first one is called Ultimate Pink

This hot pink is so vibrant, I'm in love with it! It's so cheap (the whole brand is!) and the polishes can last up to a week without chipping, which is amazing if you ask me! I'd definitely recommend this polish, it's totally girly and pretty and I tend to get compliments when I wear it. 1-2 coats is perfect :)

The second polish Rachel requested to see is called Shining Star

This is a gorgeous light brown/gold colour. It's a frosty polish, so it needs 2 coats to be seen properly and have a stunning shine. It's perfect if you're not into bright colours; just pretty, natural and sleek. Loves it!

My 'Essence' nail polish collection

I was sorting through all of my nail polishes and I have SO. MANY. I decided to share some of them with you, different brands.

ESSENCE
I have mostly Essence polishes, as I love them. They're vibrant, cheap and last up to a WEEK without chipping, which is amazing. They have a fantastic colour selection!

From top to bottom, left to right:

Black Out, Make Me Holo
Fall For Me, Cool And The Gang, Trendsetter, The One And Only, Just Shout!
Movie Star, Ultimate Pink, White Secret, Red-y To Go, Shining Star, Let's Get Lost, Sundancer
Pro White Effect, Pro White French, Quick Dry Top Coat
Show Off (Top Speed Nail Polish)

If you want pictures of any of these on my nails, let me know and I'll do it :)

My Nail Art collection

As a huge nail art lover, I thought it would be cool to do a post with a picture of ALL of my nail art products/items. I have a lot!

Told you I have a lot!

I have:
1 big wheel of rubber flowers
1 big wheel of mixed half pearls & bows
1 big wheel of mixed baby pearls
1 small wheel of rubber flowers
1 small wheel of bows
2 small wheels of mixed baby pearls
1 pot of random rhinestones, bows, pearls
Around 20 fimo nail canes (some sliced)
Lots of sheets of stickers - leopard print, butterflies, flowers, lace, bears
5 dotting tools
3 nail art brushes (1 not in picture)
Big box of rhinestones
24 nail art pens (smell. so. bad)
Purple 'tidy'

I think this might be everything, but it looks like something is missing. I've ordered new nail art brushes as those one are totally crap!

Nail of the Day

I'm a sucker for nail polish, I must buy a new one (at least!) every week. I've had this one a little while now and decided to paint my nails last night, as this colour goes great with my dark brown hair.

It's by Collection 2000, and it's part of the Hot Looks collection. It's called Show Off, and it's a 'fast dry' polish. It does just that, dries in no time at all! I'm absolutely in love with it! It's nearly all gone though as I use it a lot, so I'm going to have to get more ASAP. I get mine in Boots, and it's only £1.79, which is totally amazing! The colour is so vibrant and one coat does the job :)

This made me giggle...

This made me giggle so much, I had to share it with all of you! I'm a massive Lionel Richie fan too, so it's even funnier! Totally made my day, lol

Hope it makes you giggle :)

I ♥ Westlife

This post is actually pretty hard for me to write, as I've been a fan of Westlife since the start... ♥
Westlife came on the scene in 1998, when I was just 10 years old! I used to read all about them in Top Of The Pops magazine, then cut out their pictures and stick them on my wall or in my Westlife scrapbook (yes, I was that obsessed!) These five gorgeous Irish lads made up Westlife. *proud-to-be-Irish moment!*
L-R: Kian, Mark, Brian, Nicky, Shane

In March 2004, Brian left the band. Westlife still stayed strong, despite rumours that they were going to fall apart.
Westlife (minus Brian)

They have sold over 44 million records worldwide! They've had 14 number one singles, 11 top 5 albums, 7 of which hit the top spot, and 10 sell out tours! But on October 19th 2011, the band announced that, following a Greatest Hits album and a Farewell tour, they would go their separate ways (amicably!) and bring the Westlife journey to a close by the end of 2012.

Of course, millions of fans from all over the world were truly devastated, including myself. I think my mum was pretty gutted too as she had a soft spot for Mark. I've only seen them twice in concert, but it's better than not seeing them at all! I have hundreds of pictures to bring back those special memories. I think this one has to be my favourite, it brings tears to my eyes just knowing that I've seen them live!

and they're wearing suits too, which is totally sexy...

I also have Shane's autograph too, which he signed on the back of a photo I took of him at the first Westlife concert I went to :) ♥

There is always a Westlife song to sum up how I'm feeling at certain time. My favourite song of all time is 'Flying Without Wings'. I cried when I first heard it and it still gets me now. I want 'Butterfly Kisses' and 'I Do' played my wedding.

My favourite member is Shane (duhh, so obvious!) always has been. His accent makes me melt and that smile, those eyes. My brain can't handle his hotness, he oozes sex appeal :P his wife is one lucky lady!

Of course, even though the lads are going to be doing their own thing, I'll still be on Twitter *stalking* them so I know what they're up to :P I'm glad they're releasing an album AND doing an actual Farewell tour, instead of just breaking away, or 'taking a break' and never coming back. They're truly amazing guys and they've helped me through so much in my life. I know a lot of people dislike them or whatever, but they're freakin' amazing ♥ I'm devastated they are splitting up, but I still have all those pictures, songs and concert videos, to bring back beautiful memories

#WestlifeForever

I love those guys so much! ♥

Recent ELF Order - Blush, shadows, polish - Reviews/Swatches!

I got compliments about my last ELF review post, so I felt I had to do another one for my newest purchases ;)

Here's what I bought:

Elf Professional Eye Shadow Brush

Price: £1.50

I love this brush! It's so sleek and the bristles are so soft. I use it to build up my eyeshadow colours, wet or dry. The head of the brush is pretty small, so it's easy to get into the crease, if need be. It's cheap  effective, and so far, it hasn't shed. I'm definitely going to buy more as it's so cheap, and you can never have too many eyeshadow brushes :)

Natural Radiance Blusher

Price: £1.50

The colour I bought is called Flushed, which is a gorgeous plum pink/fuschia colour. I love very pigmented blushes and this is perfect! The packaging is truly awful! It's hard to open and it reminds me of a drawer, as you have to pull the bottom out. Awkward! Back to the blusher itself... You don't need a lot of product as it's pigmented, totally worth the price and I will definitely buy it again!

Nail polish

Price: £1.50

(Excuse the kind of messy nail, I did a quick few coats to take a picture for this post!)
I bought the polish in Cranberry, as I needed a gorgeous rich, dark red. This is a beautifully rich (obviously) cranberry colour, although you may need 2 coats, but it's stunning. It reminds me of Christmas, which is why I bought it. It has a very slight red shimmer to it, which the camera kind of picks up. The picture ALMOST shows the true colour, it's so much better in person. I think I'll do a Christmas nail tutorial soon, which includes this colour. Absolutely recommend it, it looks so classy and neat.

Mechanical Eyelash Curler

Price: £1.50

Amazing!! I used to use Ms Makeup eyelash curlers and I thought they were amazing. They needed replacing, so I tried one very similar to the Models Own one, but it was so awkward to use and pulled at my lashes. I read a couple of reviews on this one from ELF and had to pick it up. The curved design is said to suit all eye shapes, and it certainly suits mine. The handle makes it easy and comfortable to hold and use, which is amazing for the price. Plus, it comes with an extra rubber pad. Result! It holds my curl all day too, with no heat required!

I took a picture of my eye BEFORE I used the curler, and AFTER with some mascara.

Brightening Eye Colour

Price: £1.50

I'm in love with this little quad, Teal Dream! I don't like the little applicator brush (I used to use them years ago!!) but I use my normal makeup brushes to apply the colours. On it's own, the colour pay off is just okay and the shadows are a tiny bit powdery, but with a primer, they're amazing and last ALL day!! There's loads of other quads to choose from and I plan on buying more! The packaging is small, which is so handy when travelling, you could pack loads of them :)

Studio Blush in Fuchsia Fusion

Price: £3.50

I've wanted this for so long! I was't sure whether to get it or not but I saw a review on YouTube and my arm was twisted into buying it - I'm SO glad I did! It's a gorgeous bright pink colour and it has tiny specks of silver glitter. The glitter doesn't stay on your face for very long, which is good because you'd look like a sparkly glitterball if it did, lol! But it does leave a beautiful sheen, which I love! The pink stays on all day; it's very pigmented so you can get a lot of colour with one stroke. Love this, definite repurchase!

Studio Makeup Mist & Set Spray

Price: £3.50

Numerous times, this product has been compared to MAC's Fix+ , which I haven't tried so I can't comment on that. This spray from ELF promises to keep your makeup in place all day. It contains Aloe, Green Tea, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C & E. For me, this product works! After you've applied all your makeup, you hold it around 16 inches from your face and spray (close your eyes!). You can allow the spray to soak into your skin or you can pat it dry with tissue paper. I prefer to let it dry naturally, it can take a couple of minutes but it's worth it! I applied my makeup at 9am, and it was still  perfect at 9pm! I'm looking forward to trying it when I go clubbing or something like that :) Love it, definitely recommend!

Eye transformer

Price: £3.50

First of all, the packaging of this product, like most of the ELF Studio line, is sleek and sophisticated. From looking at the product on the ELF website, I presumed they were creams, but they are infact, shadows. These shadows can be worn alone or over your other makeup to create new shimmery colours. There are 4 shades; green, orange, pink and blue.

I applied 4 strokes of black eyeshadow on my hand (excuse the awful lighting!!) Then I applied each Eye Transformer powder over the black
Before                                     After

The green powder turned the black into a shimmery khaki colour.
The orange powder turned the black into a shimmery bronze colour.
The pink powder turned the black into a shimmery purple/pink colour.
The blue powder turned the black into a shimmery iridescent/blue colour.

I love this little palette, it's such a gem and makes the black shadows much more interesting :)

I hope you enjoyed my reviews. As always, I love doing them, even though I only have 26 followers!! :P
