Blogmas - Day 25 ❤ Christmas Day!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! I really enjoyed mine, even though I didn't get to spend it with my own family this year. It was a busy day today, but I do love the whole hustle and bustle on Christmas day and the amazing sleep I always have because I'm so tired when it's all over. Months ago, both my fiancé and myself agreed we would spend this Christmas together (morning and dinner). In the seven years we've been together, we haven't had 'our own' Christmas, so we decided to do that this year... with our two cats!

This morning was spent running around like headless chickens while we prepared dinner (then the fiancé took over - yay!). It was absolutely yummy and I was so stuffed afterwards, that I felt sick when I saw all the sweet treats we bought to have over Christmas. After dinner, we gave our presents to other people and loved seeing their faces when they opened them. I love that about Christmas! Tonight, my mother-in-law and brother in law came over to see us and we all had a great giggle. They've just gone so it's the perfect time to pop up my last Blogmas post.

I thought I'd throw in some pictures from my day...

I asked Santa for a breast reduction, but he never listens, sigh! My outfit was a dark navy dress with white polka dots and this cute belt that came with it. I also worse black tights and black boots. Cute little outfit, my fiancé loved it.

How cute is this necklace sent to be by my gorgeous friend, Sarah. I wore it today :)

My Christmas nails

You know when your belt just doesn't stay through the loop and falls out? Yeah, it's annoying! I came up with this tip as it was bugging me when I was curling my hair. I took a bobby pin and pinned the end to the actual belt. It's stayed put all day and still hasn't budged!

We got this yummy 'Snow in Love' Yankee Candle from my sister-in-law, and it smells beautiful. Not overpowering, just a beautiful delicate scent. The Yankee website describes it as a 'blend of creamy, comforting woods and wintry powder freshness'. Mmm!

Burning the 'Snow in Love' candle with our gorgeous dinner and some drinks. Who doesn't love a candlelit dinner?

Sweeties for after dinner. I didn't have any, I was way too full after dinner. I may or may not be nibbling at them now...

Mini bottle of Jacobs Creek and mini box of Milk Tray from my little sister-in-law. They're so adorable and will go down a treat this weekend :)

I kept my eye makeup simple today with a beautiful silver shadow and I used my Daniel Sandler lipstick in Casablanca, applied with a lip brush. I never used to use a lip brush, now it's my saviour!

The roaring fire with two cushions for the cats. They love sleeping here on chilly days :)

So the 25th (now 26th, damnit!) marks the end of Blogmas, and as much as I've enjoyed doing it, I'm honestly relieved it's over. It's hard coming up with a post each day for 25 days! I'm sure I'll end up doing it again next year though! I hope Santa was good to you all... although, coal is a good gift too because it's freeeezing outside ;)

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas xoxo

Blogmas - Day 24 ❤ Christmas nails & excuses!

I've been SO good with Blogmas this year, getting a post up everyday. But not now! Argh! I had all intentions of getting my post up early today, but I had lots of cleaning and tidying to do before Christmas Day. I obviously didn't get my post up in time though *slaps wrist*. This evening, our electricity went out. I was in such a foul mood, I didn't feel like doing anything - just sitting in front of the fire with a glass of West Coast Cooler and sulking. What other way would a grown up handle things?

Safe to say we were extremely pissed off thinking Christmas Day was ruined, but we soon made light of the situation as everybody in our area was in the same boat (unless they had a gas cooker, in which case, they'd be fine!). After an hour, it came back on. What a relief... it was the worst hour of my life ;) then we had visitors over who left at 11pm, which is when I made a call to both my parents to wish them a Happy Christmas. I know, excuses excuses, but it's the truth! Forgive me!

Anyway, today's (yesterday's?) post is just a quick one on my Christmas nails. I was going to do red, but decided on a white nail polish topped with Essence's 'Special Effect! Topper'. I love it, and I know I'm the absolute worst nail painter in the world. Oh well!

I'm sure I'll see you later! ;)
Oh, and I'll leave you with this...

❤ Have a great Christmas! ❤

Blogmas - Day 23 ❤ Red hair?

I can't believe it's only two days until Christmas! This month has actually flown by so quick, and honestly, Blogmas has been harder than I thought it would be. We're on day 23 now, only two more days of Blogmas left.

I dyed my hair black again today, but I'm seriously considering going back to red in the New Year. It's the red colour I had around two years ago... I really miss it! It was a pain yo keep up but I LOVED it. It was definitely my favourite colour hair I've had, and I've had every colour imaginable!

Are you excited for Christmas?

Blogmas - Day 22 ❤ Cosy Sunday

I keep thinking today is Monday... but anyway, today was the day we got our Christmas dinner food in - thank god it's over! We can rest now until Wednesday. It's still freezing, and the hailstones and wind make my nose want to fall off. Brrr!

Cosy and feeling very Christmassy, ready to finish the Christmas dinner shopping. I love the koala bear hat. It was from Dunnes Stores last year and it's for a child aged 9-11 years. What child has a head this big?! I love it though, it fits so snugly and keeps my head and ears warm. Great for bad hair days too!

Burning my Yankee Candle 'Christmas Rose' votive. It smells so good, I'd love it in a large jar!

I love a good fire on a chilly day. This is ours right before it kicked off. I love the heat coal gives off. I think tonight will consist of hot cocoa, a movie (or Christmas music!) and maybe an early enough night.

Are you all ready for Christmas?

Blogmas - Day 20 ❤ Haul: Boots & Primark

I received some money for Christmas, and as I'm very rarely in the city anymore, we just went up yesterday. Here's what I picked up. I've taken pictures of most things up closer so you can get a proper idea of how they look. Prices are below, too.

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

 PRIMARK

Firstly and not importantly, I picked up a king-size red fitted sheet. Then I picked up a beautiful 'extra large' scarf, which is red with white hearts. Perfect for winter and I feel like the colours make it look very Christmassy. I love shabby chic and vintage looking decor, so I picked up some Christmas decorations. I don't think they look very Christmassy, but I've put them on my tree anyway. After Christmas, I'll still be using them to hang on door handles throughout the house. They're so cute, and as it is so close to Christmas, they were reduced in price, so I couldn't say no.

I needed some new fluffy warm pyjamas, and the bottoms of these ones caught my eye straight away. They're baby pink with white hearts, and the top is white with a heart in the middle, and it says 'Always Be Mine'... adorable! When I put them on earlier, I noticed the bottoms have cute white cuffs at the feet which I find keep the heat in! Love.

I spotted this makeup bag and I just had to have it. It's a bit bigger than it looks in the picture, and it will hold what I use on a day to day basis. It reminds me of Minnie Mouse, but I love the 'rock chick' look the studs add.

I couldn't say no to these slipper socks either (I swear, clothes speak to me!). They're SO fluffy and have kept my feet warm all day today. Again, they're a pink/coral colour with white hearts. Seriously, it's only when I got home that I realised that I went a bit heart-crazy today.

Fluffy socks are a must for this awful weather, I wear them inside boots most days, and inside the house. Primark do packs of 3 and they're so cosy! Such a lifesaver on these cold nights. With the socks and my fluffy slippers (above), I'll have the toastiest feet around.

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

  BOOTS

I needed to pick up razor blades and another Collection concealer for when mine runs out. I ended up picking up two (I don't know when I'll be near a Boots again!), and got a free Collection mascara as I spent over €6.99 on Collection products. Look out for a review on the mascara soon, I can't wait to try it. I also picked up my razor blades. My favourite, as I love the built-in shave gel bars. I bought my usual Clairol nice 'n easy hairdye in black... just in time for Christmas!

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

EURO GIANT

I'm kind of obsessed with Argan oil and the packaging of this caught my eye before the name did. I picked it up and I'm really looking forward to trying it. I'll use it a few times before I review it here for you... We'll see how it turns out!

Blogmas - Day 19 ❤ 3 Makeup Tips!

Over the past year or so, I've got more into makeup and over this time, I have learned and picked up a few different tips. They're useful for me, so hopefully some of these will help you out...

❤ I apply foundation BEFORE I apply concealer (I use primer first too!). Some of my smaller blemishes will be concealed by the foundation, so in turn, I use LESS concealer to cover up what I need to.

❤ If I'm applying liner (liquid/gel/pencil) on my upper lashline, I apply my mascara first and let it dry. This gives me something to 'lean' the brush/pencil on, which means I get a smoother, more even line that is easier to apply.

❤ When applying blush to the 'apples' of my cheeks, I don't smile. If I do smile, apply the blush and drop my smile, the 'apples' of my cheeks drop too. Instead, I suck in my cheeks a little bit, and apply a small bit of blush on my cheekbones, and blend it out.

I hope you find these tips useful in some way!

Blogmas - Day 18 ❤ Someday Summary: Wednesday

Today was a day jam-packed with getting most of our Christmas food/treats/alcohol in. I'm shattered now, it's been a long day and shopping is hard work... only food shopping, though, I could clothes shop all day! We have most of the food we need now until just before New Year's Eve, but we need to get the rest of the alcohol and actual Christmas dinner food (fresh!) this weekend. It's so damn windy outside, I thought I was going to blow away when I stepped outside earlier. Anyway, here are some of our treats... yummy!
It's so nasty outside, so I've been burning my large Midnight Jasmine Yankee Candle. I asked for it for Christmas and I got to open it early, yay! I'll be back to burning my Yankee Candle 'Christmas Memories' votives tomorrow. This is my second Midnight Jasmine candle and I love it so much! It makes the room so cosy and the scent spreading throughout the house is beautiful.

I've had a fairly productive day today and I'm hoping Christmas is a good one...

Blogmas - Day 17 ❤ Collection 'Lasting Perfection' Concealer in Fair

I had been dying to try the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, but Boots is well over an hour away from me, and there's no Superdrug near me either! One of my friends offered to pick one up for me, and boy am I glad she did. This is my FAVOURITE concealer ever. I'm in the shade fair, because I'm almost as pale as Casper the ghost.

Source: Google images. I used this image because this is mine...
I think a well-worn tube is a sign of a much-loved product... and I do love this concealer! It's amazing for covering dark circles and any blemishes you might have. It doesn't leave my skin feeling 'heavy' or looking cakey. I always moisturise really well, about 10/15 minutes before applying makeup, so the concealer (and other makeup) doesn't cling to any dry patches on my skin. A lot of the time, I even feel confident if I'm just wearing concealer, and no foundation. That's how well it covers. On days when I want extra coverage, I'll pop on some foundation. The concealer promises 16 hour wear, and I feel it lives up to this statement.
The concealer retails at £4.19/€6.49 (which doesn't make sense, because it should still be less than €5. Grr, still worth it though. I'll be going to Boots after Christmas, so I'll pick up another one then in case I run out soon.

Have you tried this concealer? What are your thoughts?

Blogmas - Day 14 ❤ My Ultimate Christmas Playlist

As a big lover of Christmas, I love everything that comes with it... except parting with so much money. Music is a huge part of Christmas for me, and personally, I don't think it would be 'Christmas' without it. With Christmas being less than TWO weeks away, I've compiled my ultimate Christmas playlist. I hope you like it!

***
The Pogues - Fairytale of New York

This is my ULTIMATE Christmas song! Admittedly, I do listen to it during the year too, but I just prefer it at Christmas. It's very nostalgic, and gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. I can never get tired of listening to it. Now, on to the rest...

***
Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You

***
Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody

***
Christ de Burgh - A Spaceman Came Travelling

***
Wham! - Last Christmas

***
Britney Spears - My Only Wish (This Year)

***
Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone

***
Cliff Richard - Mistletoe & Wine

***
Band Aid 20 - Do They Know It's Christmas?

***
Westlife - White Christmas

***
Christina Aguilera - Silent Night (Noche de Paz)

Sinéad O'Connor - Silent Night

***
Andy Williams - The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

***
Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

***
Ella Fitzgerald - Sleigh Ride

***
Dean Martin - Let It Snow!

***
Elvis - Here Comes Santa Claus

***

Pheeeeeww, I think that's enough! These are the ones I'll be listening to up until Christmas (and a few weeks after when I'm depressed because Christmas is over, haha). I hope you like them as much as I do!

What are your favourite Christmas songs?

Blogmas - Day 13 ❤ The Christmas Tag

1.  Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?
We usually go for synthetic but I'd love a real one some year soon.

2.  You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick?
A yummy mint or white hot chocolate wouldn't go amiss... are you offering?

3.  What's your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
Baby pink, teal & silver, or just colourful. Plain decorations & white lights look lovely too.

4.  Giving or receiving?
I won't lie, it's obviously nice to receive, but there's nothing more heartwarming that seeing someone's face light up when they open a present.

5.  To mince pie or not to?
Definitely not!

6.  What's your traditional Sunday lunch?
Mash, ham, a tiny bit of veg, swimming in gravy...

7.  Christmas day fashion
Usually red & black, or just black - whatever I can find that I think suits!

8.  What's your favourite Christmas song?
Fairytale of New York by The Pogues is my all-time favourite, but put on any Christmas song & I'm automatically in a festive mood!

9.  What's your favourite Christmas film?
Home Alone... or Miracle on 34th Street.

10.  Open presents before or after lunch?
Before... 6 or 7am is perfect, heehee.

Blogmas - Day 12 ❤ Bedroom Decor Inspiration

When I lived at home, I used to rearrange my bedroom every other week. Mind you, my Britney Spears & Westlife posters used to stay on the walls though, along with my fairy lights. I loved doing different things with my bedroom, and it helped that it was quite a big room (we had turned the attic into a bedroom, which was most of the length of the house. It even had those cool attic stairs). I loved it! I'm currently living with my fiancé and our bedroom isn't too big. The biggest wardrobe is built-in so obviously can't be moved, and there are not many places to move the bed... but that doesn't mean I can't make it look cute! When Christmas is over, I'm getting right into doing this. A canopy, fairy lights, lace, etc. Hopefully one day (when I own my own house), I can buy one of those beautiful vintage dressing tables and and huge mirrors. Until then, I can dream.

Here are a few pictures that are already inspiring me...

❤ Love, love, love! ❤

Do you like the same styles I like from looking at these pictures?
